Spring in Guildford is a beautiful thing with streets lined with flowering plum trees and gardens alive with colour. All the usual pubs, cafes and restaurants will be available for you to eat, drink and possibly sing in.
After the success of our Massed Choir event in recent years we are thrilled to announce its return in 2024.
The highly talented Kavisha Mazella will take a Big Sing Workshop during our Saturday program where she will teach 2 songs in 4 parts that will be performed by choirs during the Massed Choir event on Sunday. This uplifting Massed Choir event will be held in the picturesque Stirling Square after lunch on Sunday.
Once again, the Songfest weekend will have a delicious array of food on offer to keep all our performers and visitors sustained over the weekend. Guildford Primary School will again be setting up stalls outside our main venues selling tea & coffee and a wonderful selection of sweet and savoury treats. And then food trucks will have a range of delicious meals available for dinner on Saturday night at our headline concert, and lunch on Sunday in Stirling Square. With tables and chairs set out under the shade of the gum trees, Sunday lunch will be a lovely opportunity to relax before our finale.
As always the Songfest will utilise the beautiful historic buildings and grounds of Guildford. With concerts and workshops held in Stirling Square, St Matthews Church and Hall, the Guildford Town Hall, Wesley Chapel, Guildford Primary school and the stunning old Mechanics Institute building Guildford will once again come alive with singing.
Expressions of interest will close on May 31 2024. Please fill out this form and be sure to let us know if your choir Director also directs other choirs. Details of choir members who sing in other choirs would also be helpful.
We are aware that some choirs may have become less active with recent events. If you are receiving this email, but no longer belong to an active choir, we hope you will still consider joining us for a weekend of song and friends.
