Dementia-Friendly Singing Groups
Creativity has been shown to play a significant part in supporting the wellbeing of people living with dementia. It allows people to communicate and express themselves through artistic activities which can be important for many people. For poorly understood reasons, many people living with impaired memory have little trouble recalling song tunes and lyrics. This can enable a genuine shared experience with carers, families and other singers.
People living with dementia are invited to join one (or more) of dementia-friendly singing groups listed below together with their support person. These highly successful weekly programs can help improve self confidence and quality of life for a person with dementia.
