Dementia-Friendly Singing Groups in WA
SongFest Inc. operate four Dementia-Friendly Singing Groups
These highly successful weekly programs can help improve self-confidence and quality of life for both a person living with dementia and their carer.
Community singing has been shown to play a significant part in supporting the well-being of people living with dementia. It allows people to communicate and express themselves through artistic activities which can be important for many people.
For poorly understood reasons, many people living with impaired memory have little trouble recalling song tunes and lyrics. This can enable a genuine shared experience with carers, families and other singers. Please note that the choirs are open to anyone interested in this program.
Sessions include morning or afternoon tea for a low fee
(usually $5.00 per person)
